And here we are at the last chapter! We've seen many fonctions but we've saved one of the most interesting for last... The management of your Phone Calls!
We will see how Rainbow allows you to make and receive Phone Calls. The main advantage is that you can call anyone without worrying about whether they have a Rainbow account or not.
Unlike the other types of calls in Rainbow (Web Call & Web Conference) that travel over the Internet, Phone Calls use the telephone network. Let's take a closer look at how to take advantage of these features...
The above plan will help you track your progress.
How to Make a Phone Call ?
Rainbow can interface with your corporate telephony system to allow you to manage your Phone Calls through your computer! Depending on your Company administrator's choices, this interfacing can take many different forms...
Select the device to use to manage your Phone Calls.
Choose which device to use :
To begin, you will have to choose which device to use to make or receive Phone Calls.
- Click on the Telephony icon to the right of the search bar.
- In the menu, choose the mode you wish to activate. Your choice will indicate on which device you will be able to speak with your caller.
- The main phone modes (Computer, Office Phone and Other Phone) are described below:

Other modes can be added to this list. These are actually "Other Phone" configurations pre-programmed with the phone numbers available in your Rainbow profile.
Initiate a phone call:
There are different ways to initiate a Phone Call in Rainbow. Once the call has been launched or accepted, the conversation will be initiated on the previously chosen device.

Dial a phone number to start a Phone Call.
Accept an incoming Phone Call.
Manage your Phone Call :
Perfect! Now that a Phone Call is in progress, let's take a look at the opportunities Rainbow has to offer.
The call with Christian MILLER is launched. Emily has many options to manage this call.
Phone Calls are in the same form as Web Calls but with different types of otpions.
Emily's working environment is noisy. She prefers to cut her microphone so as not to disturb the call. She continues to hear Christian.
Mute your microphone to hide your sound from the person you are talking to.
Since Christian is also a Rainbow user, Emily can share her screen. They can comment on a document directly over the phone.
Add Screen sharing if the caller is also recognized as a Rainbow user!
Emily has to go away for a while. She puts the call on hold, which temporarily interrupts the discussion.
Make the caller wait by putting the call on hold.
Emily can send "DTMFs". This is especially useful when she contacts a voice server such as her voicemail for example.
Send "DTMF" for example when you contact your voice mail.
Emily can record this Call clicking on this icon. Christian will be notified at the beginning of the recording.
Record your Phone Call to make sure you don't forget anything.
Handle Multiple Calls at Once :
Now let's see how Rainbow can help you deal with dual calls.
- Your active call has a blue background in the tab on the left side of your screen and is labeled "Telephone Call".
- Click on the phone number of a Rainbow user to start a new Phone Call. Simply launch the call to put the first one on hold.
- You can also use the search bar to dial a phone number.
The behavior will be the same if you accept a call from a new caller while you are already online.
Start a new Phone Call even if you are already online.
How to Manage Multiple Phone Calls ?

She can simply resume the call with Christian while putting Olivia on hold in turn.
Click the icon to switch between an active and a waiting call.
Emily can transfer Christian to Olivia and leave the conversation.
Click the icon to transfer the active call to a waiting call and exit the conversation.
If the subject is everyone's business, Emily can start a conference call and combine Olivia, Christian and herself into one call.
