This article is intended for company administrators who wish to configure tags for contacts in the business directory.
Note: The tag feature is not available for company members with the Business Directory role.
Tags are keywords that can be used as search criteria in the business directory (for example: by company and/or job title). From the search bar of their Rainbow application, company members can search for contacts by entering one or more of these tags.
From the business directory, you can:
- Create and add tags to contacts (see: Creating and adding tags to contacts)
- Manage contacts for a given tag (see: Managing contacts for a given tag)
Note: Adding a tag to a contact can also be done from the contact list in the business directory (see: Manage the business directory of a company). - Rename or delete a tag (see: Renaming/deleting a tag)
Note: It is not possible to add contacts to the tag via the contact bulk provisioning (CSV file import with contact data).
Creating and adding tags to contacts
- From the Rainbow administration interface, click on the Manage your company icon at the bottom of the left menu.
- In the left panel, click on My company, then Business directory.
- Click on the Tags tab.
- Click on Create.
- In the Tag name field, enter the name of the tag.
- Add the contacts one by one in the corresponding field.
To add a contact, enter the first letters of his/her name or email address. A list of matching entries appears allowing you to select the contact of your choice. - Click on Create.
The tag is displayed in the list with the number of contacts (Contacts column).

Note: At any moment, you can click on the tag to display the associated contacts, and add or delete contacts (see: Managing contacts for a given tag).
Managing contacts for a given tag
- From the Rainbow administration interface, click on the Manage your company icon at the bottom of the left menu.
- In the left panel, click on My company, then Business directory.
- Click on the Tags tab.
- Click on a tag to display and manage its contact list.
- Perform any of the following:
To add a contact: Enter the first letters of his/her name or email address. A list of matching entries appears allowing you to select the contact of your choice. Click on Add contacts to add the contact to the list.
To remove a contact: Click on the icon to the right of the target contact. - Click on Close to exit.
Example:
Renaming/deleting a tag
- From the Rainbow administration interface, click on the Manage your company icon at the bottom of the left menu.
- In the left panel, click on My company, then Business directory.
- Click on the Tags tab.
- Perform any of the following:
To rename the tag: Move your mouse over the target tag, click on , and select Rename tag. A configuration window opens allowing you to change the tag name. Click on Apply to validate change.
To delete the tag: Move your mouse over the target contact, click on , and select Delete tag. A confirmation pop-up window opens. Click on Delete to confirm deletion.
The tag is deleted from the tag list, and the associated contacts.
