Thank you for your suggestion, but we will not implement a new personal phone book in Rainbow.

User is able to call back people with a Rainbow account or not (people from Azure AD directory, PBX phone book, and even Outlook personal contacts for Windows Desktop users).

    I yet understood that.

But should not we all want to make Rainbow as user-friendly as possible? Unfortunately, the reality is that Rainbow is not the linchpin application on our customers' desktops. And that will not change, if you do not give the customer something he really wants.

    An example:
On my Mac desktop I can not access any local directory, I only see the rainbow contacts. That's really not much. If I want to call a contact, I have no choice but to type the number in the search field by hand... That certainly can not be the idea behind it ...

We often sell products like "MetaDirectoy" (by Estos) or "XPhone Connect Directoy" (by C4B) to merge different existing data bases (CRM, public telephone directories.....). So man can search names by one LDAP request with reverse lookup. Some customers uses OpenLDAP as directory service. So it would be interesting when the Rainbow client could use an "search link" to a LDAP Server.

Additional to this, it would be nice, when it would be possible to copy call numbers from the call log into other external phone book (e.g. MS Outlook)

Hello Christophe, one part of my suggestion was to copy the number from the call log to copy it e.g. in a new outlook contact card ore in a CRM contact etc. when the caller is new or not identified. (right click on the coll log)

Sorry, Christophe but searching external users from PBX phone book is currently not possible on OXO. This feature is really missed!

Why you don't want to implement the access to the system-default address book from Rainbow? On a smartphone this is completely normal. But at the desktop you only have the Rainbow accounts. That is not understandable.

    Tobias,

There is may be a misunderstanding with my answer. I said that we mainly rely on system directories (Rainbow is one, Microsoft Azure AD is one, and the PBX directory is one), and that for the Desktop app, we also rely on Microsoft Outlook directory.
For OXO PBX for example, the user will have access to the same OXO directory than the one available via dial by name on the fixed or mobile device.
    BR,

We will study/work on that subject in Q4, i.e. manage a Rainbow directory for OXO users.

Some customers have external LDAP as overflow directory (at least in OXE, don't know for OXO).

Which solution with Rainbow for such existing configuration ?

Customers are not interested to the technical background, they want two simple features:

    1. search phone number by name to take outgoing calls
    2. assign name to a number for an incoming call of a new contact

in the 1990er it was easely able to do this with free software like http://www.isdn-monitor.org!
