Parallel Video and Screen Sharing for Android Clients
With an Android client - no matter whether it's CPaaS or UCaaS (Rainbow standard client) - it's not possible to have a video conversation and screen sharing in parallel. This is affecting one of our CPaaS projects very negatively:
One of our distribution partners is promoting smart glasses from realwear (www.realwear.com, https://www.also.com/ec/cms5/de_1010/1010_point/artikel/index-14081.jsp). These are industrial grade glasses running on Android 8.1. There are many use cases for field technicians etc. to get in touch with their experts in the HQ to have a video session so the expert can see remotely what the technician is working on and can give guidance. One of the crucial elements here is that the expert must be able to share his screen with the technician to show some technical drawings, wiring diagrams etc. However, the above mentioned restriction means that in this case the video connection would not be available any more, so the expert wouldn't see what the technician is doing any more.
Other fields for these glasses where we are actively promoting it are fire brigades and telemedicine, so the potential of this solution is obvious.
As the Rainbow Android standard client would be too rich (too many functions which aren't needed and just take valuable space from the relatively small screen of the glasses), one of our development partners has already developed a respective CPaaS app (Application ID d26ff73055dc11e9a3ed792ef275e2b1). Business model, KPIs and prize were already discussed with PYN. The lack of parallel video and scrceen sharing however is having a negative impact on our sales activities. Hence we ask for the possibility to allow parallel video and screen sharing on Android (for comparison, on iOS it's already available!).
The technical perspective of this case was already discussed with Cédric B., so he is aware of the case.
Thanks a lot!
