shift+return to send message when in the mode to have return make a line break
Hi,
Rainbow PC client has right now 2 keyboard mode for sending a message:
- either the [return] key send the message and cannot be used for line break
- either the [return] key does a line break and then user has to click on the sending button
The first mode is good for people who seldom make a line break in their message for whatever reason like only writing short messages or simply because they don't want or don't know the feature [shift]+[return]
The second mode is for people like me who prefer to put some basic presentation in their medium size messages rather than fill the screen with several 1 line messages.
So i'm using the [return] key only to line break, and the problem is that i am forced to click on the send button with the mouse and leave my hands from the keyboard to do so!
typing...typing...[return] typing.. typing [return] typing... then mouse click, and going back to keyboard again for the next message.
When someone is using a keyboard good ergonomic practices suggest that one can do many extra actions by staying on the keyboard. that's why the shortcuts have been created, and why people use the arrow keys in a text editor even if the place we want to go is little far. Because with some [page up], [page down], [line start] key or even [ctrl]+[arrow] combination you can reach your target without the need to touche the mouse!
So my suggestion:
Since when you are in the mode
[return]=send message, you can line break with the combination [shift]+[return]
It would be nice to have the opposite for the other mode as
[return]=line break, you can send message with the combination [shift]+[return] (and still mouse click for those who want it doesn't have to disappear)
Thanks
