This article is intended for resellers who wish to associate an OXO connect or OXO Connect Evolution equipment to a customer company. For readability purposes, unless stated otherwise, the OXO Connect and OXO Connect Evolution are called PBX in the rest of the article.
Associating a PBX to a customer company differs according to its delivery mode on customer site:
- In stock mode, the PBX is taken from the Business Partner Fleet, and delivered with a generic software version, without customer information. This information is loaded at PBX installation on customer site.
To associate the PBX to a customer company:
- On Rainbow, declare the PBX in the target customer company, including its Rainbow connection settings (equipment ID and activation code) set with the couple fleet reference/installation reference (see: Associating a PBX to a customer company (stock mode)).
- On the PBX, no configuration is required: The Rainbow parameters are automatically filled on PBX, and Rainbow is enabled by default.
- In Build To Customer Order (BTCO) mode (OXO Connect only): The OXO Connect is delivered with a software version including the customer information and licences.
To associate the OXO Connect to a customer company:
- On Rainbow, declare the OXO Connect in the target customer company (see: Declaring the OXO Connect in the customer company).
This will generate an equipment ID and activation code for your OXO Connect. - On the OXO Connect, enable Rainbow, and configure the Rainbow connection settings (see: Connecting the OXO Connect to Rainbow).
- On Rainbow, declare the OXO Connect in the target customer company (see: Declaring the OXO Connect in the customer company).
Before beginning, you must know the following:
- In case the PBX is delivered in stock mode, the couple fleet reference/installation reference enabling to identify the PBX in your PBX business fleet
- Dialing information (country, national prefix, international prefix, outbound prefix)
- Numbering rules
Associating a PBX to a customer company (stock mode)
- From the Rainbow administration interface, click on Customer companies at the bottom of the left panel.
- In the customer list, click on the name of the customer company to associate to the PBX.
- In the left panel, click on Communication.
- In the right part of the window, click on the Comm. Servers tab.
- Click on Create.
- In the Server name field, enter the name of the PBX.
- In the Server type field, select OXO Connect.
- Select the Activate WebRTC gateway check box (the WebRTC gateway is used for Rainbow VoIP call handling), read the license agreement, and click on I accept to continue.
Note: This operation can also be performed later, when installing and configuring the WebRTC gateway.
- Select the Specify equipment ID and activation code check box, and complete the equipment ID and activation code with the same value: fleet reference-installation reference (for example: ALE12-1234.5678.90 where ALE12 is the fleet reference and 1234.5678.90 is the installation reference).
- Complete the Dialing information:
Country: This information is used to translate national phone numbers into canonical numbers
National prefix: First digit(s) dialed when calling a subscriber inside the country configured in the Country field
International prefix: First digit(s) dialed when calling a subscriber outside the country configured in the Country field
Outbound prefix: Prefix used for outgoing calls - Click on Next.
- Define the numbering rules applying to outgoing communications from Rainbow (for details, see: How Do I Configure the PBX Numbering Rules ?).
- Click on Create.
The PBX is created and displayed in the equipment list with the Pending status.
Once the PBX connected to Rainbow, the PBX connection status changes to Running in the equipment list:
- To have a complete view of the connection status, click on the PBX in the equipment list, and click on the Connection tab.
- To check the connection status on PBX side:
- Connect to the PBX via the OXO Connect Console Management (OMC).
- In OMC (Expert View), select Cloud > Rainbow.
- Verify that Rainbow is enabled, and the couple fleet reference/installation reference is entered in the Rainbow PABX-ID and Activation code fields.
- Verify that the connection status is Connected.

Associating an OXO Connect to a customer company (BTCO mode)
Declaring the OXO Connect in the customer company
- From the Rainbow administration interface, click on Customer companies at the bottom of the left panel.
- In the customer list, click on the name of the customer company to associate to the OXO Connect.
- In the left panel, click on Communication.
- In the right part of the window, click on the Comm. Servers tab.
- Click on Create.
- In the Server name field, enter the name of the PBX.
- In the Server type field, select OXO Connect.
- Select the Activate WebRTC gateway check box (the WebRTC gateway is used for Rainbow VoIP call handling), read the license agreement, and click on I accept to continue.
- Leave the Specify equipment ID and activation code check box unselected. An equipment ID and activation code will be automatically generated after the PBX declaration.
- Complete the Dialing information:
Country: This information is used to translate national phone numbers into canonical numbers
National prefix: First digit(s) dialed when calling a subscriber inside the country configured in the Country field
International prefix: First digit(s) dialed when calling a subscriber outside the country configured in the Country field
Outbound prefix: Prefix used for outgoing calls - Click on Next.
- Define the numbering rules applying to outgoing communications from Rainbow (for details, see: How Do I Configure the PBX Numbering Rules ?).
- Click on Create.
A pop-up window opens with the equipment ID and activation code. Click on Close.Note: This information will be required when Connecting the OXO Connect to Rainbow.
The OXO Connect is created and displayed in the equipment list with the Pending status.
Connecting the OXO Connect to Rainbow
Before beginning, make sure you have the equipment ID and activation code generated on Rainbow for your OXO Connect. You can get it from the equipment list on Rainbow: Select the OXO Connect, and click on the Connection tab:
The copy/paste operation can be used to enter these information in the following procedure.
Procedure:
- Connect to the PBX via the OXO Connect Console Management (OMC).
- In OMC (Expert View), select Cloud > Rainbow.
- Select the Rainbow enabled check box.
- In the Rainbow PABX-ID field, enter the target equipment ID.
By default, this field contains the CPU serial number. - In the Activation code field, enter the target activation code.
After connection to Rainbow and reception of the login password, this field will be grayed. - Leave the Domain name field to its default value: openrainbow.com.
- Click on Apply.
A confirmation window opens. - Click on Yes to confirm changes.
Once the OXO Connect connected to Rainbow, the connection status changes to Connected in OMC.
In the equipment list of the customer company in Rainbow, the OXO Connect connection status changes to Running. To have a complete view of the connection status, click on the OXO Connect, and click on the Connection tab:
